The following settings are recommended for use with Distiller. To create a preset with these settings: Open Distiller, go to Settings > Edit Adobe PDF Settings, choose the settings illustrated here, then click Save As and save as a new preset with whatever name you choose.

If you create PDFs by distilling a PostScript file using Distiller, simply choose this new preset before distilling. If you create PDFs by choosing Print in your layout program and printing to Adobe PDF, the preset should also be available in the Print dialog.

(Note: The appearance of this panel will be somewhat different in Windows, and/or with different versions of Distiller.)

General Tab. Compatibility should be set for Acrobat 5.0.

Images Tab. Sampling should be set to "Off" and Compression and Image Quality setting should be as shown.

Fonts Tab. "Embed all fonts" must be checked. (There is no need to specify which fonts to embed in the bottom section, if this box is checked.)
